Our kids too have started emulating us. While negating this habit will take time, you will need to take care of your eyes consciously for better vision. Both diet and exercise are important to ensure good and healthy vision. Here is something that you can do on a daily basis to ensure healthy eyes.

Handy Tips for Eye-Care

1. Catch on Your Sleep

Nowadays, when I hit the bed, I have this urge of checking my social media account to know what’s happening in the world of my friends. A 6-minute break turns into a 60-minute hour of wasted time, which could have been invested in sleep. Keep your gadgets away and catch on some sleep. It’s good, both for your eyes and body.

2. After Every Twenty Minutes

Working on computers has become almost mandatory in most of the offices. While you cannot do away the screen, but you can always do this. Gaze at an object that is placed far away from you. This should be done after every twenty minutes of staring at the screen constantly. It will give your eyes the rest it requires.

3. Maintain Health and Hygiene

Just like you wash your hands before eating, wash them even prior to touching your eyes. This is especially important for those who wear contact lenses.

4. Invest in Sunglasses

When you buy a pair of sunglasses next, do not just look for good style and design. Make sure that they are of standard quality. They should protect your eyes from harmful rays of the sun too. On your next outing under the sun, ensure that you and your kids are wearing them. Also, clean them on a regular basis.

5. Safe Distance

While fitting the television on the wall, you should research about the proper distance between eyes and the screen. Ask your kids to view the television from a safe distance. Avoid using mobile screens in dim light for longer periods.

6. Regular Check-up

Just like you visit the dentist, you need to visit an eye-specialist too. Eyes are quite sensitive and they need a proper inspection on a regular basis. You should visit one at least once in every six months. Keep your eyes fit and fine. A diagnosis can help you to nip any problem in the bud and take proper care.

7. Give up Smoking

Smoking is bad not only for your lungs but also for your eyes. Give up the habit of smoking and liquor for a pair of good and healthy eyes. Constant smoking damages the tiny blood vessels of the eyes and might result in problems like diabetes, cataract, glaucoma, and other serious ones.

8. Refrain from Self-Medication

The moment you feel that your eyes are not well, you research the problem on the net and try to adopt some home remedy or opt for over-the-counter medicine. Please stop doing this.
